All The Things That Were (Not) Said
A list of historical and cultural misquotes and misattribution. It’s a really fun way to kill 30 mins…

Kids These Days…
Here’s something for all youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Soulja Boy addicts. I found it pretty damn hilarious…
The Past is Past
I’m copying pasting this from an email my mum forwarded to me…
“Let the past as nothing be.”
-Abraham Lincoln (1809 – 1865)There is a wonderful saying that “The past is history, the future is a mystery, but this moment is a gift, and that is why it is called the present.” I don’t know who said that, but I smile every time I hear it. We can’t change the past – it’s water under the bridge, water over the dam, and whatever other old saying you want to apply to it! It doesn’t do us any good to dwell on our past misfortunes or mistakes, or beat ourselves up for our shortcomings. And it doesn’t serve us to live in an idyllic past, wishing for days gone by. We can’t go back. But we can go forward. We can learn from the past and make better choices for ourselves in the present, which will create a more promising future.
-Lissa Coffey
It’s not like I haven’t said this enough times. Things don’t always go your way. Learn from your mistakes, forget the past, and move on to a better future. What you can change and affect is the future – so worrying about the past won’t make your life any better. Just a thought.

Procrastination Day
So here we are. After a blissfully relaxed week off of school, we have arrived at the last stop before school resumes its drudgery. Today is the last day of Thanksgiving Break, also known to my fellow procrastinators as work day.
Naturally, I’ve done almost nothing productive for the past 6 days. Today, I will spend my time finishing homework and working on college apps and all other sorts of fun stuff, and whining and complaining about all the work we have to do. For all those of you in the same boat (and I know you’re out there), good luck getting through this most infamous of days, this last day of vacation that has to bring doom and destruction to our dreams of laziness.
So, if you’re still reading this post, close my blog, close Facebook, turn up the volume on your music, and get back to work…
The Blackest Friday
One: I don’t know whether I have been posting so often to this blog because I like writing or whether it’s new and it’s just a matter of time before this practice dies out. I suspect the second one.
Two: I’m not sure why I have to come up with a cool post title. I mean…it can never be normal and to the point. That just doesn’t work. Yes, I’m off my rocker. I love that phrase, by the way.
Regardless, on to my day. I woke up at 4am. Why, you ask? Well, it’s Black Friday, of course! Yeah, that’s the last time I’m saying that. Today left me deeply disillusioned with the whole Black Friday deal – the thing is that the best deals are gone within the first 5 minutes, and the lines are beyond ridiculous. I stood in line for 35 mins outside of Circuit City. I got in the line AFTER the store opened. Yes, I had to wait in line because there were so many people that it hit store capacity. And if that isn’t enough, the cash register line was another 30-45 mins (which I spent talking to some lady who graduated high school, dropped out of college, and said that I should enjoy high school more). THAT is pathetic. And, therefore, I am pathetic. But today is the end of it. Hopefully, next year, I will remember my lesson and not wake myself up at 4am (for the 2nd day in a row) for another huge disappointment. I have to admit though: capitalism works pretty damn well!
Being Un-American
This is sort of a surreal feeling. So I’m sitting here on a Thursday night. Haven’t worried about homework for days. Nobody is on AIM. Nobody is available to hangout. Yep, it’s Thanksgiving.
My family has never celebrated Thanksgiving. And I really have never missed the fact. I mean a big meal sounds awesome. But when you live in an Indian family, every social gathering ever means the same thing. The family stuff sounds warm and fuzzy, but I always find people ending the day with complaints about one relative or another. It’s funny how Thanksgiving is such a big deal in America. I mean it’s not religious and it’s not official and yet it’s one of the 3-5 main holidays of the year, with everything being shut down. It really kind of throws me off.
Anyway, I’m not entirely sure why I’m writing this post. I think it’s because nobody is on AIM. To be perfectly honest, though, I’ve had a good day, relaxing and stuff. It’s been a nice and slow day. Not bored. At least not yet.
Hope all of you are enjoying/enjoyed your Thanksgiving meals and gatherings. I know it’s a big deal for a lot of people, so I hope it lived up to your standards. I had fun watching The Prestige, which is a really intense but awesome movie. Watch it if you haven’t. Oh, and before I go: Happy Thanksgiving!
